The Outreach Committee at Good Shepherd demonstrates faith through action.

Some of our projects include:

*special offerings for Project Fuel through Ingraham.

*special offerings & collecting supplies to package health kits for tsunami survivors in 2004 and health and flood kits for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina in 2005 for United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). http://gbgm-umc.org/umcor/

*repainting and decorating two rooms at the YWCA Women’s Shelter in Portland.

8 women volunteered a Saturday at the YWCA in Portland, repainting 2 of the women’s shelter rooms, and adding accessories such as curtains, lamps, end tables, area rugs, sheets/comforters, and a Bible in each room. The residents were very excited and anxious to move into their new, inviting space.

*clearing land for a family whose father is serving in Iraq.

*collecting and organizing clothes for our quarterly Kid's Clothing Share.
2008 share dates are February 9, May 10, August 19 and November 8
. Share times are from 8 am to 12 noon.

*distributing Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets to local families in need.

*providing gifts during the holidays to local families in need.

*The Good Shepherd’s News newsletter

The Outreach Team is the whole church. We have few meetings, but lots of participation. If you have any suggestions, please let me know.
